Daniel Dubois has separated from advisor Sam Jones ahead of the first defence of his WBO heavyweight title.
Dubois became a two-time world champion in May by stopping Fabio Wardley in the 11th round at Manchester’s Co-op Live. He recovered from two early knockdowns before taking control and eventually forcing the stoppage.
Wardley has since activated his rematch clause, with the second fight expected to take place later this year.
Jones announced his departure from Dubois’ team on social media. “I have decided to leave my position from Team Dubois,” he said. “I wish Dan and the team nothing but the best going forward.”
Jones had worked closely with Dubois over the previous 12 months and was a visible presence during the build-up to the first Wardley fight, including several heated exchanges with Wardley’s manager, Michael Ofo.
The split continues a period of change around Dubois. He previously left trainer Don Charles to work with Tony Sims in late 2025 before reuniting with Charles ahead of the Wardley victory.
