Terence Crawford has reacted positively to Errol Spence Jr.’s return, offering support ahead of Spence’s July 25 comeback fight against Tim Tszyu in Australia.
Spence has not fought since July 2023, when Crawford stopped him in the ninth round to become undisputed welterweight champion. The defeat ended Spence’s reign as WBC, IBF and WBA champion and left questions over whether he would return.
Now Spence is set to resume his career at 154lbs, where the extra weight could help him rebuild as a super welterweight contender. His opponent, Tszyu, is also looking to regain momentum after setbacks against Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev.
Crawford, who later became undisputed in a third division by defeating Canelo Alvarez before retiring, made it clear there is respect between the former rivals. “Good seeing you back out there,” he wrote. “Get to it, I’ll be there supporting.”
Their 2023 meeting remains one of Crawford’s defining wins, but his message shows that the rivalry has moved into a different place as Spence prepares for one of the most important fights of his career.
