Conor Benn has hinted that a new fight announcement is close, posting “FIGHT NEWS” alongside a series of images from his emphatic rematch win over Chris Eubank Jr. last November.

Following the Eubank rematch, Benn confirmed his intention to drop back down to welterweight and was installed as the mandatory challenger for the WBC title. Many expected him to wait for the outcome of Ryan Garcia vs Mario Barrios later this month, but Benn’s post has fueled speculation that another bout will be announced sooner.

One possible opponent is Rolando Romero, the WBA welterweight champion. Romero recently posted his own teaser, writing “Fight date announced soon” alongside training footage. The two went face-to-face at Madison Square Garden ahead of Shakur Stevenson vs Teofimo Lopez, with security stepping in after a heated exchange that saw Benn try to physically lift Romero.

Benn has already made clear that Romero is firmly on his radar. “We’ve got Rolly there. Rolly is a fight we’d love to make,” he said previously. “If we don’t make progress with any other developments by the end of the month, then we pull the trigger on getting the Rolly fight made.” After their latest confrontation, Benn doubled down: “He can get it tonight, or we can do it next.”
