The retirement of Terence Crawford has opened the door to fresh opportunities in the super middleweight division, and unbeaten contender Osleys Iglesias is eager to seize his chance. With Crawford vacating his Ring and undisputed titles, the IBF moved quickly to explore options for filling its vacant belt.

The sanctioning body contacted its two highest-rated contenders at 168 pounds, Canelo Alvarez and Iglesias, giving both three days to declare their availability. Iglesias accepted immediately, while Alvarez ruled himself out due to elbow surgery.

Iglesias’ promoter, Camille Estephan, believes the next logical opponent is Jaime Munguia. Estephan emphasized that Iglesias earned his No. 1 position by decisively defeating Vladimir Shishkin in an eliminator and said his team hopes the IBF will now act quickly to move negotiations forward.

While other contenders such as Callum Simpson and Hamzah Sheeraz remain in the mix for different titles, Estephan made it clear that Iglesias is not concerned with names or reputations. He described his fighter as willing to face anyone placed in front of him for the IBF crown.
