The undercard is officially set for the May 3 “Riyadh Season” show headlined by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and William Scull. In the main event, Canelo defends his Ring, WBA, WBC, and WBO belts at super middleweight against the unbeaten Scull, who enters as IBF champion. The two will meet in Saudi Arabia, in a bout that could crown an undisputed king at 168 pounds.
Former champion Jaime Munguia looks for redemption in a co-featured rematch against Argentina’s Bruno Surace. Last December, Surace stunned the Mexican star with a single-punch knockout, in a result hailed as “Upset of the Year.” Both men now eye a statement performance, as Munguia aims to reclaim the momentum many thought he had before the shocking defeat.
A heavyweight firefight looms between punchers Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba. Bakole looks to rebound from a two-round stoppage loss to Joseph Parker — a fight he took on just 48 hours’ notice. Meanwhile, Ajagba will make his first ring appearance in a year, having last edged Guido Vianello on points in April 2024. Also slated is a WBC cruiserweight title defense for Badou Jack against the big-hitting Ryan Rozicki. Rounding out the show are two intriguing bouts: Rising Olympian Marco Verde makes his pro debut at welterweight against Michel Polina, and Cuban light heavyweight prospect Brayan Leon takes on the durable Aaron Guerrero.
