Gervonta "Tank" Davis' upcoming bout against Lamont Roach, originally set for December 14, has been rescheduled to January. Although PBC has yet to confirm, Tank himself hinted at the change in a post on social media, saying, "The fight will not happen this year. January I’m hearing."
Insider talk suggests that PBC may repackage the Davis-Roach bout alongside the anticipated David Benavidez vs. David Morrell fight, set for January 25 in Las Vegas. Adding Davis to that card could boost interest, as fans might view Tank's fight as a bonus to the big Benavidez-Morrell showdown.
The delay may also be a strategic play to avoid low turnout or disappointing pay-per-view sales in December. With extra time, promoters can ramp up interest through social media and interviews to give fans more of a reason to tune in.
Also previously it was reported that there are some problems with the Toyota Center in Texas, which might be the main cause of the postponement, and moreover PBC are planning to unite Davis-Roach vs. Benavidez-Morrell event.
