The fight yesterday ( December 16, 2022 ) wasn't long as Arslanbek Makhmudov forced Michael Wallisch to quit in the first round!
By forcing his opponent to withdraw in Quebec, Arslanbek Makhmudov improved his unbeaten record to 16-0 (15 KOs) and is currently ranked fourth by the governing body whose belt is held by Tyson Fury.
The winner demonstrated excellent form with his rabbit punches, knocking Wallisch to the back of the head three times.
It's surprising why referee Albert Padulo Jr. didn't intervene to get Makhmudov disqualified even though the shots were quite apparent. He lost a point for the rabbit hits, but that didn't stop him from continuing to batting with those ones.
In a shocker, Femke Hermans (14-4, 5 KOs), a female super welterweight fringe contender, won a ten-round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Mary Spencer (7-1, 5 KOs) to win the IBO belt. Spencer, 38, who turned professional last year after a long amateur career, was on the fast track to a world title shot and entered the fight as a 35:1 favorite. The final scores were 99-91, 97-93, and 96-94.
