Oleksandr Gvozdyk, reflecting on the upcoming high-stakes light heavyweight fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitrii Bivol, shared his insights, leaning in favor of Beterbiev due to his superior power and strategic fighting style.
Gvozdyk, who lost his WBC title to Beterbiev in 2019 and then took a significant break from boxing, has since returned to form, winning three consecutive fights. He now considers himself among the top light heavyweights globally. Speaking on the matchup, Gvozdyk remarked, “Beterbiev’s power is not easy to handle. If you watch how Bivol struggled against Canelo’s pressure, it’s clear he might find it even tougher against Beterbiev, who is stronger than Canelo.”
While acknowledging Bivol’s skills and footwork, Gvozdyk expressed skepticism about Bivol’s ability to withstand Beterbiev’s style. He noted, “Bivol is very good, but perhaps overrated. People see him as nearly invincible, which I don’t think is the case. Beterbiev’s experience at heavier weights and his natural size advantage will play crucial roles.”
Gvozdyk concluded that while the fight could be competitive, Beterbiev’s knack for finishing fights powerfully makes him likely to prevail, potentially by knockout, unless Bivol can effectively use his mobility to control the fight’s pace and distance.
