Early discussions are reportedly underway for a potential undisputed showdown between Dmitry Bivol and David Benavidez.

The focus though for now remains on Bivol’s upcoming return against Michael Eifert on May 30. The bout marks his comeback following back surgery and serves as a mandatory defence of his unified titles. Only with a win there can the bigger picture come into play, and that bigger picture leads directly to Benavidez.

The current WBC champion was elevated after Bivol vacated the belt rather than face him. Since then, Benavidez has strengthened his position, including a stoppage win over Anthony Yarde, while continuing to push for a clash with the Russian.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that discussions are already taking place, with Benavidez open to moving back down to 175 pounds to pursue the matchup. It’s a scenario that would see all four belts on the line - if both sides align and Bivol comes through his next test.
