Saturday night at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City saw Edgar Berlanga (21-0, KOs) defending his undefeated status with a fight against Jason Quigley (20-3, 14 KOs).

The 26-year-old Berlanga, known for his early knockouts, showed the audience that his power is still a significant factor, even as his opponents have improved. A right-hand shot led to Quigley’s first downfall in the third round. However, Quigley’s tactical use of movement and jabbing kept Berlanga at bay, preventing him from pinning Quigley against the ropes and unloading his power punches.

The bout saw Quigley bounce back in the middle rounds, adapting to Berlanga’s aggressive style and landing successful jabs and hooks. However, the tables turned again in the final round. Berlanga, spurred on by the hometown crowd, launched an aggressive assault, landing a left hook followed by a straight right hand, sending Quigley down once more. Despite the intense final round, the fight went to the final bell, marking Berlanga’s fifth consecutive decision after 16 initial first-round knockouts in his professional career.

The night also witnessed several other exciting bouts. Joe Cusumano (22-4, 20 KOs) defeated Adam Kownacki (20-4, 15 KOs) via an eighth-round TKO, Reshat Mati (14-0, 8 KOs) overcame Dakota Linger (13-6-3, 9 KOs) with a ninth-round TKO, and Yankiel Rivera secured a unanimous decision victory against Christian Robles.
