Eddie Hearn has lifted the lid on what could be the next major shift in boxing’s 2026 calendar, with Conor Benn closing in on a high-stakes welterweight showdown against Ryan Garcia, and a prime spot on Netflix potentially up for grabs.
Fresh off his Zuffa Boxing debut, Benn made an immediate statement with a decision win over Regis Prograis at 150lbs, his first fight below 154lbs since 2022. The victory kept “The Destroyer” firmly in position as the WBC’s top contender at welterweight, putting him directly in line for a shot at Garcia’s title.
The matchup has quickly moved from possibility to expectation. Both fighters publicly welcomed the fight after Benn’s latest win, and what was initially rumored as a summer clash now appears to be drifting toward a much bigger stage later in the year.
According to Hearn, the fight could land on September 12 as part of Netflix’s limited boxing schedule - potentially stepping in for the increasingly uncertain rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
“Netflix are only going to do so many fights,” Hearn said. “The word is that they are doing Benn-Garcia… that is obviously the fight replacing Mayweather-Pacquiao.”
