Yesterday, in one of the main events, IBO Super Middleweight champion Padraig ‘The Hammer’ McCrory (18-0, 9 KOs), ranked No. 4 by the WBA, was taking on Steed “The Stallion” Woodall (18-2-1, 11 KOs) for the WBA Continental title. In another event of the evening, Elijah Pierce (18-2, 15 KOs) and Mike Plania (28-3, 15 KOs) faced off in a super bantamweight clash.
The 10-round contest saw McCrory, hailing from Belfast, and Woodall of Birmingham, deliver a boxing masterclass. McCrory, while facing stiff competition and even enduring a cut on his eyebrow from a clash of heads, managed to put Woodall on the canvas in the eighth round with a solid right. The judges rendered scores of 96-93 (twice) and 98-92 in favor of McCrory, confirming his claim to the WBA Continental title.
In the co-main event, Belfast’s Sean ‘The Public Nuisance’ McComb (17-1, 5 KOs) went toe-to-toe with Alejandro Moya (17-2, 10 KOs) of Spain in a super light clash. Over ten rounds, McComb’s hand speed and ring craft were on full display, even though a clash of heads in the eighth caused him a minor setback. However, it was McComb who emerged victorious, with judges’ scorecards reading 97-93 twice and 99-92. Additional highlights from the night included a powerful performance by Super Welter southpaw Kieran Molloy (6-0, 4 KOs), who made quick work of Sam O’Maison (17-6-1, 7 KOs), securing a knockout just over a minute into the first round.
Meanwhile in the other event, despite a shaky start, Pierce displayed immense resilience and adaptability, delivering a breathtaking knockout punch in the third round. Down two rounds, the Oklahoma southpaw made a stellar comeback, dropping the Florida-based Plania with a left hook just 53 seconds into the third. Pierce reflected on his win, praising his adaptability and crediting his coaches for the change in tactics.
The co-main event showcased the impeccable skills of 2020 US Olympic bronze medalist, Oshae Jones (4-0, 0 KOs), who dominated the eight-round super welterweight bout against Miranda Barber (3-5, 1 KO). Notably, in the sixth round, Jones caught Barber off-guard with a powerful right punch, further cementing her dominance.
The undercard included an intense super featherweight bout, wherein Haven Brady Jr. (10-0, 4 KOs) preserved his undefeated record, defeating Andre Rene Rodriguez (9-1, 5 KOs) unanimously. The bantamweight division witnessed Gabriel Muratalla maintain his perfect record, skillfully defeating Edwin Rodriguez. Lastly, an electrifying match-up opened the card, with Ricardo Lucio Galvan (5-0, 2 KOs) emerging victorious against Xavian Ramirez (4-1, 3 KOs) in a featherweight contest.
