Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury is reportedly moving closer to being staged at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on November 28, with an official decision expected in the coming days.
According to Dan Rafael, sources involved in the talks believe there is a “strong chance” the all-British heavyweight fight will take place in Wales. Principality Stadium can hold around 78,000 boxing fans and has a retractable roof, making it a practical option for a late-November event.
The Cardiff plan has emerged after Wembley was ruled out, while Madison Square Garden had also been considered because of its more favorable timing for American viewers.
Netflix approval was viewed as a major part of the negotiations. One source told Rafael that the platform appeared to be comfortable with the Cardiff move, although the venue has not yet been officially confirmed.
Joshua has previously fought at Principality Stadium against Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker, drawing crowds of more than 70,000 on both occasions.
The proposed November 28 date is later than earlier November 20 discussions, but Cardiff now appears to be the leading option as organizers work to keep the fight in the UK.
