WBA super featherweight champion Anthony Cacace is targeting a major fight with Emanuel Navarrete or O’Shaquie Foster as plans develop for a possible Belfast homecoming.
Cacace was ringside at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday, supporting his Queensberry stablemates at the same venue where he became a two-time world champion in March.
The Belfast fighter made clear that he wants one of the division’s biggest names next, even though he does not usually promote potential matchups through social media.
“I want Navarrete, I want Foster,” Cacace said. “I don’t speak that much. I don’t call them out on Twitter. I haven’t got a fan base like that, but I want the two big guys.”
Cacace would also welcome an opportunity to fight in the United States, particularly Las Vegas, but believes his next appearance is more likely to take place in Belfast.
A mandatory defence may determine his immediate plans. WBA interim champion Elnur Samedov is due a title opportunity, although Cacace said he has not yet received confirmation about his next opponent.
“I know I have a mandatory there, so whatever comes next, comes next,” Cacace said.
