Yesterday, Thompson Boxing made a comeback with "Path to Glory" featuring a welterweight main event 8-round fight between Louis Lopez (13-2-1, 4 KOs) and Angel Beltran (16-1, 9 KOs).
As a result, before a lively crowd at the Doubletree Hotel, Beltran scored a knockdown against Luis Lopez with a left hook to the head, ultimately winning by unanimous decision with scores of 78-73, 78-73, and 77-74.
During the bout, Beltran proved to be the more efficient fighter, frequently outboxing Lopez in the exchanges. Although Lopez had some impressive moments, Beltran's varied offense and ability to keep Lopez at distance allowed him to control the majority of the fight. In the fourth round, Beltran momentarily stunned Lopez with a left hook to the body, followed by another left hook to the head.
While Lopez had some success in the second half of the fight, landing lead or counter right hands to Beltran's head, Beltran quickly regained his momentum by connecting with left hooks to both the head and body.
In the co-main event, in a six-round fight, junior middleweights Jesus Gonzalez (6-0-1, 2 KOs) and Keon Papillon (5-0-1, 4 KOs) fought to a draw via split decision. The scores were 58-56, 56-58, and 57-57.
