Lightweights Andres Cortes and Eridson Garcia will meet in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 5 on April 5 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Cortes (24-0, 13 KOs), a 28-year-old from Las Vegas, enters the fight ranked No. 4 by the WBO and also holds rankings with the IBF and WBC. Garcia (23-1, 14 KOs), who was born in the Dominican Republic, is ranked in the WBA’s top 15 and also sits among the WBO’s top 10 contenders.
Cortes previously fought under the Top Rank banner dating back to the COVID-era boxing schedule. He ended his association with the promotion in October, when he stopped Derlyn Hernandez-Gerarldo in the fourth round at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
Garcia fought four times last year and closed his campaign with a notable upset victory over Japan’s Taiga Imananga on a December 27 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The April 5 event will also feature a co-main event between former WBC featherweight champion Mark Magsayo and former WBA junior lightweight title challenger Feargal McCrory.
