Carl Froch believes a prime Amir Khan would have beaten Conor Benn in a welterweight fight.

Froch pointed to Khan’s speed, amateur pedigree and world-title experience as the main reasons he would favour the former champion.

“He has got the skills,” Froch said. “Olympic silver medallist, went on to win world titles and too good, too skilful and probably a little bit too fast as well for Conor Benn.”

Khan won world titles at super lightweight and recorded notable victories over Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana and Zab Judah before later moving up in weight.

Asked for his final prediction, Froch gave a clear answer: “Amir Khan, every single day.”
