In a spectacular display of boxing prowess, undisputed female featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) fought against WBO interim champ Danila Ramos (12-3, 1 KO) which took place on Friday night at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Eventually, Serrano, known for her aggressive style, dominated the ring, relentlessly pressing the action against Ramos. Instead of the usual 20 minutes, Serrano punished Ramos for a full 36 minutes. The judges unanimously scored the bout 120-108 in favor of Serrano.
However, it’s worth noting that only Serrano’s WBA, IBF, and WBO titles were at stake. The WBC chose not to sanction the fight, citing concerns over the safety of twelve 3-minute rounds for female fighters.
The undercard fights were equally riveting. Undefeated WBA #14 welterweight Damian Lescaille (6-0, 4 KOs) showcased his power, delivering a stunning ninth-round knockout against Ray Barlow (7-4, 4 KOs). Lescaille’s right hook proved to be the difference, flooring Barlow at 2:58.
In another notable bout, 2016 Olympian Antonio Vargas (17-1, 9 KOs) faced off against the seasoned former world champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (47-11-2, 33 KOs) in a ten-round bantamweight contest. Vargas demonstrated superior skill and strategy, outscoring Marquez with scores of 99-89 across the board. Marquez found himself on the canvas twice, further highlighting Vargas’ dominance in the bout.
