Unified junior middleweight champion Natasha Jonas is aiming to avenge her 2021 defeat against Katie Taylor. After her loss to Taylor, Jonas ascended several weight classes and clinched three world titles in as many fights. Now, Jonas is set to compete at welterweight against Kandi Wyatt for the vacant IBF world title in Manchester.
While Taylor’s last fight occurred at 140-pounds, Jonas hopes their future paths might converge again. Jonas expresses her wish to settle the score, stating, “100 percent, I need to put my mind at peace, I need revenge.” Joe Gallagher, Jonas’ manager and trainer, also echoes her desire for a rematch, envisioning it as a perfect farewell fight for both athletes.
As Jonas approaches 40, Gallagher admits concerns about her facing defeat against less skilled boxers. He argues that Jonas has nothing left to prove and should leave the sport on a high note. The goal is to ensure that she exits the ring with her reputation intact and is remembered for her contribution to the sport.
