Anthony Cacace will make the first defense of his WBA super featherweight title against former featherweight champion Nick Ball on December 19 at The O2 in Belfast.

Cacace won the WBA title in March with a points victory over James “Jazza” Dickens in Dublin. The Belfast fighter had previously held the IBF title before relinquishing it and will now return home for his first world title defense.

“Nick’s a great fighter, ex-world champion, so I expect a good scrap,” Cacace said. “I’ll fight with him, I’ll box him - whatever way he wants.”

Ball will move up in weight after losing his WBA featherweight title to Brandon Figueroa, who stopped him in the final round of their February fight.

The Liverpool fighter became WBA featherweight champion in 2024 with a points win over Raymond Ford, three months after drawing with then-WBC champion Rey Vargas in his first world title attempt.

Ball will now look to become a two-weight world champion, while Cacace will have home advantage in what is expected to be one of Belfast’s biggest boxing nights of the year.
