Former WBA super welterweight champion Abass Baraou will return against Giovani Santillan on September 11 at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California.
Baraou is coming off a unification defeat to Xander Zayas in Puerto Rico. The German had previously won the European title in England before defeating unbeaten Yoenis Tellez for the WBA interim belt and later being elevated to full champion.

The fight with Zayas marked Baraou’s sixth consecutive appearance away from home. Despite the loss, he remains determined to return quickly to world-title contention.
“I want to present myself again and show my potential,” Baraou said. “He is a strong opponent who will demand the best from me.”
Santillan earned a major victory over Alexis Rocha in October 2023 before suffering his first professional defeat against Brian Norman Jr.
