Biography
Tyler Denny (born 2 July 1991 in Wordsley, West Midlands, England) is an English professional boxer who competes in the middleweight division. A southpaw standing 5 ft 9 in, Denny is known for his persistence, durability and workmanlike style rather than knockout power, having built much of his career through competitive decision victories. A former Midlands Area amateur champion, he turned professional in March 2015 and gradually established himself on the domestic scene.
After going unbeaten in his first 11 professional bouts, Denny suffered early setbacks in repeated attempts to win the English middleweight title, losing to Reece Cartwright in 2018 and Linus Udofia in 2019. A third attempt against River Wilson-Bent in 2021 ended in a technical draw after an accidental clash of heads, but Denny finally captured the English title in their rematch on 25 June 2022 by split decision. He then successfully defended the belt with unanimous decision wins over Bradley Rea and Brad Pauls, confirming himself as one of the leading domestic middleweights in Britain.
Denny reached the biggest success of his career in November 2023 when he challenged Matteo Signani for the European middleweight title and won after Signani was unable to continue at the start of the eighth round. He made a successful first defense in June 2024, retaining the belt against Felix Cash by technical decision after an accidental head clash caused a fight-ending cut, with Denny ahead on all three scorecards.
His European reign ended in September 2024, when he was stopped in the second round by Hamzah Sheeraz at Wembley Stadium in a high-profile bout that also involved Sheeraz’s Commonwealth title. Denny responded well to the defeat, returning to the win column in 2025 with points victories over Elvis Ahorgah and Grant Dennis. By the end of that year, with a professional record of 21 wins, 3 losses and 3 draws, he remained a respected figure in the British middleweight division.
