Biography
Patrick Allotey, born on June 23, 1991, in Ghana, is 5’9” with a reach of 71 inches. In April 2015, he faced Patrick Teixeira at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York, where he suffered a second-round knockout loss.
In September 2019, Allotey challenged Jaime Munguía for the WBO World Super Welterweight title at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Despite a valiant effort, he was defeated by technical knockout in the fourth round.
Technical Overview
Patrick Allotey is somewhat of a dragon rooster of a fighter. He’s powerful when he gets the high ground, dominating opponents with his ability to maintain control and leverage in exchanges. He’s good at fighting off the back leg, showing great balance and patience as he waits for the perfect opportunity to counter. He’s also excellent at boxing in a circle, primarily relying on his lead hand to create openings and control the pace of the fight.
Allotey is very good at ducking under punches and slipping backward, using his natural agility to evade his opponent’s attacks. He masterfully uses his momentum, whether to propel himself upward with a sharp counter, sideways to avoid danger, or straight through his opponents with a powerful blow.
Although his punches may be slow for a combination-heavy fighter, they certainly hurt because they pack tremendous power. When you’re in the ring with him, you never know what’s coming - he might throw an overhand punch straight through the guard or smack you with a devastating hook that feels like you stole something.
