Pat Brown

Patrick Brown is a Manchester-born cruiserweight who came through the GB Boxing system after being inspired by Ricky Hatton from a young age. A two-time national champion, Brown represented Great Britain at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning his place on the team after beating Poland’s Mateusz Bereźnicki in the Olympic qualifier. He lost a close split decision to Brazil’s Keno Machado in the opening round, but the experience marked an important step in his development.

Brown turned professional in 2025 with Matchroom Boxing and immediately began building a reputation as one of Britain’s more dangerous young cruiserweights. His first five fights all ended inside the distance, including stoppages of Ivan Duka, Lewis Oakford and Austine Nnamdi. His American debut against former WBA interim light-heavyweight champion Felix Valera was particularly destructive, with Brown dropping Valera three times in the second round before the referee stopped the fight.

The biggest step of his young career came in April 2026 when Brown faced Vasil Ducar at Planet Ice in Altrincham. Brown controlled the fight from the opening bell, scoring three knockdowns before forcing a stoppage in the eighth round and picking up the vacant WBA International and IBF Intercontinental cruiserweight titles. The performance showed that his power has carried up with him from heavyweight and that he is capable of breaking down more experienced opponents over the longer distance.

Now Brown is moving toward his first major domestic test. In September 2026 he is scheduled to face fellow British cruiserweight John Hedges in Manchester for the vacant British and Commonwealth titles. It is a fascinating matchup between two young fighters with strong amateur backgrounds, but Brown brings a different level of physical strength and finishing power. If he can combine that aggression with the technical discipline developed during his time with GB Boxing, he has the tools to become a serious factor in the division.
